The criminals hide in woodland or forest on the roadside, and wait for their next victim's tyres to be slashed before shooting them dead. Their motive appears to be purely of carrying out cold-blooded murders because they have not stolen a single valuable from their victims. Their area of operation is believed to be in the region surrounding Russian capital Moscow.
The gang has been in operation for the past 15-months and it seems a criminal psychologist has provided a cue of sorts - the killers have a 'fetish' of taking away the driving licenses of their victims but do not touch bank cards and cash.
Law enforcement sources admit that the same guns were used in all cases, and the police have issued a warning to drivers to take extreme care on remote roads in the sprawling region. Moreover, they have been advised to avoid driving Moscow region roads at nights and not to stop under any circumstances.
