Residents of Los Cabos resort turn to looting after Hurricane Odile strikes

Hurricane Odile has turned the residents of resort town Los Cabos into thieves and looters and the Police had to step up patrolling overnight because looters stripped many stores of goods and tens of thousands faced a fourth day without water or power foxnews.com.
The authorities have indicated that officers would stop and question anyone they found on the streets after nightfall to ensure that they had legitimate business at that hour – the directives are as good as curfew.
The measure has been introduced to allay security concerns following days of looting of everything from convenience stores to big-box retailers and it has gone to the extent that some of the residents are worried that private homes and condos could be next.
So far, 5000 tourists have been flown out of the region but, officials estimated that another 30,000 travelers have been stranded by the storm.
President Enrique Pena Nieto's office has revealed that the federal government was working closely with state authorities on relief efforts in the areas battered by Odile and efforts are on to restore water and electricity. Nearly 239,000 people had their power knocked out by the storm and 95 percent of electrical service would be revived in the coming days.
